Sekou is a musician, dancer and acrobat from Guinea, West Africa. Since November 1996 he has been in residence in the Amherst based performing company, Bamidele Dancers and Drummers. He speaks English, and is fluent in French, and his tribal languages Sou Sou and Malinke. He has performed with Les Ballets Africains, and Ballet Djoliba. Sekou currently teaches African Dance from a Cultural Perspective at Mount Holyoke College and Greenfield Community College, in Mass. He has been presenting workshops and concerts with Tony Vacca and World Rhythms since the fall of 1997.
